Coronavirus update.30 May
The College of Podiatry, has advised that we may now start to treat patients with a broader range of foot conditions. However this does not mean that we are returning to normal.
As a reminder, our patients fall into the following Categories:
Category 1: Acute Conditions/limb threatening/Infection (RED)
Category 2: Debilitating or life affecting Conditions (AMBER)
Category 3: Mild Conditions (GREEN)
Firstly , we must still ensure that we give priority to treating our patients who are classed as Red and Amber as they are at a greater risk of critical limb issues. Our Green patients should be seen only if self care advice or a telehealth appointment will not be suitable.
Every practice has a different balance of patients and staffing so we appreciate your understanding that each practice will move at a slightly different speed to process their backlog of patients. For example, some of our staff are shielding family members and some have no childcare. For this reason, our clinic will only be functioning currently one day a week. Your normal podiatrist may not be available at this time as not all our staff have been able to return to the clinic yet. Our reception staff will not be returning for a little while yet so please be patient if you call us as the phones have been diverted.
We are currently not able to book any new patients to the clinic at this time as we have over 500 existing patients backlogged.
The welfare of our patients is a priority to us and we are ensuring that we have the appropriate measures in place for your safety and ours.
Decisions on who to treat and when need to be based on the likelihood of a patient developing an infection, wound or losing their limb so thank you for your understanding as we process our backlog and urgent patients.
We are booking a week ahead to allow maximum flexibility in case we become symptomatic. If you have a problem before you hear from us then please contact us on 01236 421959.
Do not come to the clinic unless you have an appointment. We appreciate that it may have been some time since you last had your feet treated and we thank you for your patience while we try to contact as many patients as we can.
Our clinic will be a little different for everyone’s safety. This includes no waiting area and a strict procedure to follow when attending your appointment. This will be provided at time of booking. The cost our your appointment will increase as appointments will be longer to ensure no patient crossover, extra time is required to carry out appropriate decontamination in between each patient and the global shortage of medical supplies and cost of extra PPE equipment. Please see treatment cost tab for further details.
